V-card

John has worked exclusively in the firm’s oil, gas and energy practice since he joined the firm in 1980. Regulatory matters before the Railroad Commission of Texas are the primary focus of his practice. John is a former General Counsel for the Commission’s Oil & Gas Division. He has advised countless clients and has handled hundreds of contested cases, primarily involving oil and gas matters. In the past, John was active in oil and gas litigation and continues to advise clients and other attorneys in the firm on oil and gas litigation issues. John also assists clients with the negotiation and drafting of various oil and gas agreements and instruments. Because of his many years of experience, oil and gas clients frequently rely on him for advice not only with respect to regulatory matters, but also for business advice. Although John mostly advises oil and gas operators who are clients of the firm, he also represents and advises non-operators and land and mineral owners. For more than 25 years, John was active in firm management, including responsibility for the firm’s technology and non-lawyer staffing needs. He is a former Navy pilot and retired as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
