Tax Litigation in District Court & Court of Appeals

Overview

If a taxpayer’s state and local tax dispute cannot be resolved through settlement or in the Comptroller’s administrative hearings process, the taxpayer is entitled to appeal its dispute to Travis County District Court and ultimately to the Texas Court of Appeals based in Austin. We have been litigating state and local tax disputes in these courts for decades, and we are very familiar with the judges who hear the cases and the counsel who represent the Comptroller. We are able to resolve most cases without court litigation, but that is only because when it is necessary to go to trial, we know how to win.
